Monday 1/6/14
We packed up camp yesterday and moved a whopping 125 miles up the California coast to Long Beach which is basically a suburb of Los Angeles.
Below are some photos of the camper after we have pulled the slides in. Getting ready to pull out is exciting especially if we are heading somewhere new.
When we arrive and put the slides out it always seems so spacious inside. After almost 6 years living in this camper I still have not got tired of that happy feeling.
This campground is a lot plainer than the last one. In fact it’s a bit of a dump but the price is right and we can wash the camper which most places will not allow.
The guy parked in a trailer next to us is an apprentice lineman the same as Dax. We have met many people who live in their campers as they work traveling around the country.
Herb the lineman informed us that there are several linemen here, also some dredgers (they travel from the Canadian border down to the Mexican border on the coast dredging out the coastal waterways.
Add in the pipe fitters, construction workers and medical people and you have a fairly decent sized population. I think that is just the tip of the iceberg as far as traveling type jobs. I would have added Dean but he is retired as of January 1st.
Anyway we have settled in and are enjoying the pleasant 78 degrees weather (25 celsius).
I always wondered what it looked like all skinny. Now I know 🙂
Wish it were that easy to shrink my waist!
Ah – I was just thinking the same thing! Thanks for the update and pics of your home sweet home!
Hi Rose,
I’m enjoying your new blog; hearing about your travels and lifestyle.
Sorry we missed out on seeing you guys again in Oregon, and congratulating Dean on his retirement:)
We’re happy for you both, and wish we were traveling a bit as well. It’s been a strange dry winter here so far. May get away a bit later for a break.
Right now we’re recovering from a nice Christmas, and I’m recovering from cough gotten from my dear grand kids. We have a new one! Robyn and Ben had a son on December 3rd. He is named after Rod’s dad Raymond, and James for Ben’s father. Pretty neat little guy.
Take care you two. Hope the boys are fine. The weather sounds comfy,
Paige
Guess my comment was too long; just trying to catch up! Like the blog Rose; well done:)
Love your blogs! If I can’t live it, I can dream it! 🙂 Sounds like you are throughly enjoying your lifes journey! We are having really cold cold weather! Enjoy the coast!
