We found a nice campground by Cleveland, Ohio. The owner told us to be sure and visit the local graveyard! It turned out to be one of our highlights. Below is a view of downtown Cleveland from the cemetary.
Trust Dean to head for the big bucks tombstone.
One crypt even has a Tiffany window. Remember the old TV show The Untouchables?
A couple more very cool headstones.
Our primary reason to visit Ohio was to explore the Cuyahoga National Park. (number 45 on our list. Only 14 to go) There is a towpath running next to the remnants of the old canal system through the park. We had a great day and biked 23 miles on this trail. It was interesting to stop at all the information placards and read the history of the old lock systems.
The goldenrod was blooming everywhere.
Rose needed a few rest stops along the way. We ate our picnic on the rocking chairs at the visitor center. Autumn is around the corner.
We saw lots of deer and but they were too quick to snap. The heron and flowers behaved themselves and stayed still for me.
One of the great things about this trip was you could bike one way and catch the old train back. It cost $3 and they load up your bike and your bum gets a nice rest on the return 23 miles.
Next stop; Louisville, Kentucky and family.
Ha! My mother from Sydney Australia who is 94 and counting to 95 this November lives in a nursing home Wadsworth Ohio just about 50 minutes south of Cleveland. I have not been to the cemetery but it sounds like a place I would want to visit. Kevin and I will be in Ohio to see mom mid-October. Then onto Indianapolis to see my Ya Ya girlfriends October 16, 17, 18. Where will you go from Cleveland? I am from Cincinnati..a very interesting city as well. The seven hills of Cincinnati. Mt. Adams. Very German with lots of pubs/bars…and, Cincinnati Chili on every corner! Enjoy your travels….Janell and Kevin Wheelock (760-525-2590 Kevin’s cell). Looks like we about a month apart. We have been in Louisville visiting family and now on to Chattanooga, TN for more of the same. Then Florida until Jan. After that Arizona. Hopefully our paths will cross again on both our travels.
This looks like a beautiful area and a great bike trail!

Paige,
It really is a nice park with the bike trail. There are also many paved bike paths adjacent to the park run by the regional parks. Thank you Ohio.
