Happy Holidays

Monday 27th December 2021

2021 has been quite an eventful year. We have been vaxxed, boosted, trapped under a heat dome in Oregon and dodged wildfires in Washington. Life has calmed down since we arrived in Phoenix in November. We are staying busy playing plenty of Pickleball and hiking. Of course the Beast always needs pampering over the winter. After 12 faithful years the dishdrawer conked out. We installed a new one which thankfully slid right in the same hole.

We always enjoy a hike in the Superstition Mountains just up the road. The Saguaro with all the arms looks nice and healthy considering it’s at least a hundred years old.

This one is in its final death throes.

It’s always great to hike with good friends. Hope we get in a few more trips Jan and Tom.

I have been practicing the macro setting on my new phone.

It helps when it’s nippy in the morning and the butterflies are slow to get moving.

This guy was giving us a serious look as we slowly passed by. The whole area was open range.

Since it has been just the two of us this holiday season (Bah Humbug) we found a tiny 10 lb turkey and chopped it in half. We had this exact same meal at both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I have a new flower garden to play with over the winter.

We have had some very nice sunsets lately.

Dean and I wish you all the very best in 2022. Stay healthy everyone.

Always love the posts of your travelogue. Beautiful pictures and interesting info. Many of your followers live vicariously thru your posts. I am certainly one. This is my first Christmas and Santa season. It’s certainly different without Mrs Claus. Love the posts and if you are ever near Pell City please stop by. You and Dean were certainly a part of my early anesthesia and Donna talked about you two very often. Much love and best wishes for a great 2022!

You’re missing (not) icy roads and snow of Oregon. Nice to know you’re eating well, have a machine to clean your disheartened and staying fit. See you when it’s warmer up here. Happy New Year !

Greetings to you Rose and Bro!
I had a whole text written out to you and then I lost it! We have no Wi-Fi here in Florida. I’m with Ronnie in Panama City. He has a job here that we’ve been working on for two weeks rather he has been working freer on. We plan on going home this weekend. However he will have to come back at some point. He’s got a lot of days left. It’s good money so we’ll have to work it out. Not sure that I will come back with him.
Love love love all your pictures and your letters rather blogs. Would love to see you and the boys take a nice hike in the mountains or the desert, whatever.
I might try and call at some point ! Always good to hear your voices!
Be safe on your journeys! look forward to next blog!
    Love you both!!

    • So good to hear from you dear sis. It sounds like you are getting in some traveling since retirement. You guys sure have had some bad weather. Looks like another storm coming through. We have pretty good weather here in Phoenix. Gonna be moving toward Southern California next month.
