Sunday 17th March 2024
It’s almost April and we are getting itchy feet. We have been in Indio since November and it has been very nice with moderate weather. Not much going on over the winter, just catching up on all the odd jobs and doing a bit of hiking and playing pickleball.
Our big news is we recently bought a new car! Beauty has been a faithful old girl but she has turned 20 and Dean thought it might be nice to have a burly vehicle, especially since we are going to be in the high mountains of Colorado over the summer.
Here is Beauty with our first Motorhome in 2004. We pulled her over 50, 000 miles with this rig.
In 2008 we got the Beast and Beauty towed very nicely behind him. She got towed over 123,000 miles behind the Beast.
She has also been driven over 226,000 miles across all the lower 48 States We have been all the way down the Baja of Mexico. She trekked up to Alaska three times visiting quite a bit of Canada on the way. We have driven on beaches in Florida.
Passed a gazillion waterfalls in Alaska.
Plowed through the Utah desert.
Relaxed by the ocean.
Roasted in the southern desert….
…and frozen in the wintry north.
Fixing a flat on the side of the road…..
in pouring rain is no fun.
However, driving through a redwood tree was a laugh.
Beauty has navigated on some pretty rough roads in Mexico.
She has carried all kinds of stuff.
Made a good rock climbing support vehicle.
We have used her as a secondary camper a few times after we downsized from the tent.
She always looked good in the wilderness.
Our lads thought Beauty was so cool they each bought one.
Dean has basically taken her apart from stem to stern over the years fixing this and that. Thank goodness for YouTube videos.
Here she is beside our new Bronco. We have named him Brutey.
Beauty is getting loaded on a carrier to send back to Oregon.
She finally arrived and is now staying with our lads until…..
Our new adventure with Brutey starts soon.

You are so poetic about your “ Beauty”. What an amazing story ! You must have so many memories from all your wonderful trips and endeavours ! Congratulations to your new beauty “ Brutey” May she be as wonderful and reliable as “Beauty “. Have fun this summer in Colorado – still on our bucket list!
