Tuesday 31st December 2024
It has been pretty cold and rainy during our time on the central California coast. We still managed to have a few beach picnic lunches.

I felt like a burrito with several layers of jackets.

We even managed a few nice hikes. This one involved a very cold stream crossing but the hike was worth it.

Pinnacles National Park always impresses us.

It took a lot of work to chisel out all these steps and install the bannisters.

We saw several California Condors flying about and some just relaxing.

It was a 10 mile loop trail with plenty of ups and downs but the weather was great and our knees didn’t give out!

Our first Christmas as a foursome in 1986.

The lads were considerably bigger in 2019.

2025 here we come!!!!
happy new year You two, love the photo of you as youngins lol
Donna & Tom
It feels like forever ago having the nippers. Have a great year guys.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We are doing great here. The creek is not a creek but rather a river with white water rapids. A 75+ ft tree went down in the back yard , so we have been busy cleaning up. Where exactly are you now? Are you settled for the rest of winter?
Hopefully the tree didn’t do any damage. Good job you are up the hill from the ‘River’. We are in San Luis Obispo. Moving slowly down the coast. Pismo, Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Oceanside and ending up in San Diego through March.
Stay warm and DRY🥰
Happy New Years guys. We are in RCB and our place is for sale, hope our paths cross in the near future!
We are gonna be in Indio for some of April. when do you head back home?
A Happy Healthy New Year to you two and your handsome Lads! See you n Hood River in 2025 !!!

Seems like a hundred years ago having tiny ones.
Hi Rose and Dean,
I always love to hear and see about your travels! And I do recall that Christmas from 1986…..the boys were so cute! I remember those years well!
I wanted to let you know that my sweet Nick went to be with the Lord on Dec. 21, 2024. We were in Phoenix, so close to Jon and his family. We came out the end of October because the Drs. in TX said there was nothing more to do, the cancer was spreading, giving him 4-6 months. So…we found out about a place in Scottsdale called Envita, that does more homeopathic, genetically targeted chemo and treatment. We got started but then Nick had some complications with his esophageal stent. We ended up in Mayo Clinic Hospital for 15 days. After that, it was decided the cancer was too far advanced….WE were fortunate to be out in AZ close to Jon. Amy’s family came to visit and Nick was able to say something to all of the kids and grandkids. I’m still here…waiting for the death certificates and tying up loose ends. I plan to go back to TX in another week or so. The funeral service will be Feb 7 in SA at our church, Concordia Lutheran. It will also be live streamed. Nick will be buried at Arlington Cemetery in DC at some point…it takes months to possibly a year for that date.
We are doing ok. We spent Christmas in Albuquerque since that was a half way point for Amy’s family to drive and Katie’s mom lives there. It worked for everybody.
Wishing you two a great 2025!
Love, Linda
